Summary:

Slamming the door on the National Police and becoming a private detective: it’s a risky bet, but one that Candice is more than capable of taking. No more administrative hassles or IGPN investigations. But leaving the institution behind means facing the discomfort of independence, with its uncertain financial situations and “nobody” status: at 30, it’s tough. At 50, it’s hell.

Finally, a first real investigation is on the horizon: like in film noir, a beautiful client walks into her office (which is mainly a nail salon) and complains of an attempted murder that the police refuse to take seriously. Candice gets excited, then starts to think. Is this client really who she claims to be?
