Vincent Meslet, CEO of Newen France, and Guillaume Thouret, Deputy CEO, have announced a minority stake acquisition in the production company MOONSHAKER.
Founded in 2012 and led by Benjamin Elalouf, Moonshaker specializes in film and documentary production. The company has produced several feature films, including:
- Play (2019) by Anthony Marciano, starring Max Boublil;
- Le Brio (2017), directed by Yvan Attal, with Daniel Auteuil and Camélia Jordana (who won the César Award for Most Promising Actress in 2018);
- La Crème de la crème (2014), by Kim Chapiron.
Moonshaker has also produced several short films, most recently We Are Not Animals (Nous ne sommes pas des animaux) by Noé Debré, which was selected for the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.
Sarah Prot joined Moonshaker in 2020 as a documentary producer. She is also the creator of the podcast Un doc Un soir.
Together, Benjamin Elalouf and Sarah Prot produced the documentary The Kings of Scam (Les Rois de l’arnaque), directed by Guillaume Nicloux. Released this week on Netflix, it tells the story of a group of scammers who stole billions of euros from the European carbon quota market—only to spend recklessly and ultimately destroy one another.
Newen France is continuing its ambitious strategy of diversification and talent recruitment, recently welcoming David Amselem, who has launched his own label, PARTITA FILMS.
With experience as Literary Director at Gaumont Télévision from 2014 to 2017 and as a producer at Incognita from 2017 to 2021, David Amselem specializes in fiction and film. Alongside Edouard de Vésinne, he has produced the series César Wagner for France 2, the film Les Héritières for Arte, and Sauver Lisa, set to premiere on M6 on November 16. He is also producing Les Particules élémentaires, an adaptation of the novel by Michel Houellebecq, soon to air on France 2.
The arrival of these producers reflects Newen’s commitment to bringing together the best talent in France and across Europe, with the goal of producing the most compelling content across all genres, for all broadcasters and platforms.
