Benjabrati, Fella, Salomé, Oumnia, Paola, Mohammed, Loïc, Fatima, Jean-Erwan, Slim, François, Redoine, Léa, Sabry… They are between 17 and 29 years old, and they aspire to become actors. This is their common point, and the starting point of the human and professional adventure that will unite them in the coming weeks.

Among around sixty young candidates who auditioned in January, testing themselves in casting challenges and learning some of the keys to acting, 14 were selected by regional casting directors and project partners to form the third cohort of the free acting course # I-CI, Immersion Cinema. After this first selection step, the course itself begins. Over the course of 9 days, under the guidance of professionals from audiovisual and live performance industries and La Réplique, a professional actors’ association, they will refine their acting, dancing, and singing skills. The program includes practicing movement, improvisation, voice exploration, and camera handling. It’s an introduction to the acting profession, combining artistic practice of the fundamentals with professional tools.

The cornerstone of this two-week experience will be the filming under the cameras of a full technical crew, directed by Romuald Rodrigues Andrade. This will allow the young trainees to work on their acting in front of the camera in professional conditions, and most importantly, give them the opportunity, at the end of the course, to see themselves on the big screen! The filmed scenes will be shown at the cinema, in the presence of the professionals who crossed paths with the young actors throughout the process, or who will meet them during their upcoming journeys.

After the course, the 14 talented individuals, enriched by this invigorating experience, will join the previous cohorts to enter the ongoing support system provided by La Réplique and its numerous partners. This will help them continue their journey toward the professional world, through socio-professional support, as well as opportunities for practice, training, and mentoring with La Réplique’s professional actors.
